Incident

Panamanian flagged, 4621 GRT cargo vessel Herex 4 ran aground around Behramkale. Salvage operation of the vessel was given to our company by a contract signed with shipowner on 25 th of January.

Scope of Works

§     .Our tug Pehlivan-2 was mobilized to the incident place on 26th of January, required preparations for salvage were done, and salvage works began on 27th of January.

§     .Sea bottom under the grounded vessel was excavated by our divers using water jets.

§     .Section in length of 30 m under the grounded vessel starting from the bow of the vessel was excavated by excavator on shore.

§      Aft of the vessel was excavated by the pushing power of Pehlivan-2’s propellers (by rotating the propellers at high speed).

§     .Afterwards, the vessel was rescued by tugging by Pehlivan-2 from where it had grounded and refloated successfully.

§     .At a safe place, our divers made inspection diving and found no damages on the vessel. Following the inspection, Herex 4 was towed to anchorage area near Edremit Port on the same day.

§     .The vessel departed to go to Tuzla Shipyards Region with “Safe to Float” decision of classification society after their control and Pehlivan-2 escorted the vessel along the way.
