Incident

Swedish flagged, 2847 NRT dry cargo vessel Martin P dragged the anchor, grounded, and her hull breached due to hard weather conditions in Armaport. As a result of the accident, fuel, oil, and chemicals spread over the sea and caused severe marine and environmental pollution. Works of environmental pollution prevention and cleaning were undertaken by our company with the signed contract.

Scope of Works

All operations were carried out in line with the instructions of and under the supervision of P&I Club and the commission.

§     .An operation including underwater survey was realized by our divers in order to determine the condition of the vessel at the place of accident.

§     .According to our action plan, firstly, the fuel, lubricating oil, and chemicals spread around the ship and caused marine pollution were surrounded by oil barriers and collected with special absorbents.

§     .The fuel in the bunkers, the chemicals in drums, lubricating oil, and paints which were contaminated with seawater and bilge water were removed from the vessel.

§      Collected wastes were sent to İzaydaş to be disposed of.

§      Furthermore, the cleaning operations in Armaport were accomplished.

§      Preventive measures against fire were taken all along the operations.

Tug Pehlivan-2 and hired marine vehicles of tug Kocabaş 1, barge Galata 2, and barge Neta 1 were used in the operations.
