5330 DWT and 3418 GRT chemical tanker Metin KA faced to fire danger due to the flames spread over the ship and burning materials fallen onto the ship from the TPAO tanker while her two anchors were casted and moored aft of the ship in Çındemir Shipyard adjacent to the port side of the TPAO tanker moored in GEMSAN Shipyard for maintenance which had started to burn due to an enormous explosion.

Scope of Works

§     .The anchor chains of Metin KA were cut almost at the moment Metin KA would start to burn by intervening with our tugboat MB 7002 which had arrived in the accident place in a very short time after the TPAO tanker fire.

§     .After that, the tanker was towed and removed from the accident area by our tugboat and secured by mooring in Yardımcılar Shipyard.

§     .During the towage, flames were seen over the bow and extinguished at once. Furthermore, the crude oil spread over the sea starting from the bow of TPAO tanker began to burn and this fire was also extinguished at once by hosing water.

§     .Maneuver capability was provided to the tugboats worked for the fire extinguishing operations of TPAO tanker and spreading of the fire to floating dry dock in the quay where Metin KA was moored, a tanker found in the quay, and other vessels in the area was prevented with our intervention on time.
